David Austen (Born 1960), contemporary British painter, exceptional draftsman and colourist, will not be tethered. His recent work explores film, simultaneously contemporary and nostalgic, although painting remains at the core of his work.

His attention to detail and perfection is that of a miniaturist but his paintings are fresh and edgy at times dark, his flat use of high colour providing a springboard for his theatre.
