WHAT BEDROOM STORAGE SOLUTIONS ARE AVAILABLE AT HABITAT?
Bedroom storage solutions are plentiful at Habitat - which is good news, as bedrooms are prone to creating ample need for storage. This is the room where you store the majority of your day to day items; clothes, shoes, make-up, not to mention your off-season wardrobe (typically stored in vacuum packs under the bed).
But we don’t want you do that. There’s something not quite right about having to pack things underneath the bed - we’re pretty sure the Feng Shui experts would wholeheartedly agree with us too. If this sounds like you, and you have so many clothes you need to pack your colder clothes away come summer - and vice versa - why not try storage trunks? Large and roomy, if you pop those aforementioned vacuum packs in there too, it will create more space for your garments than the back of the wardrobe in Narnia.
Alternatively, if your clothing storage issues actually extend to those pieces you wear on a daily basis, then we recommend utilising the option of a clothing rail. Chic metal clothes rails have been popping up on stylish Instagram accounts in their droves for quite some time, so why not follow their lead? On one hand, this option presents you with the ability to decide what to wear whilst still lying in bed, and on the other hand (much more fun) this storage method allows you to keep all your favourite pieces on display - for everyone to see.
When it comes to small bits and bobs, namely make-up, hair brushes and accessories, small bedroom storage boxes will do the job nicely. Too many shoes to handle? Short of a walk-in wardrobe worthy of Carrie Bradshaw, one of our shoe cupboards will provide a worthy home. Alternatively one of our benches would work just as well.
Speaking of storage benches, such solutions work a treat when it comes to the kids’ bedrooms. If toys, toys and more toys tends to be the sight that greets you when you walk into the room, make it easier for them - all they have to do to be tidy is throw them in the bench. Handily, when they forget, it will take you two minutes to clear toys out of view.
Ottomans also work well for this purpose, yet there is also something so elegant about this piece of furniture that it should really only be pride of place in the master suite. On a practical level it is useful for storing towels and linens, while on a purely visual level an ottoman can instantly elevate the look of a room. Drape your dressing gown across it elegantly, prop the breakfast tray on there come morning, even adorn it with coffee table books. Styled right, the ottoman can be the pièce de résistance.
HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT BEDROOM STORAGE
At the end of the day, advising on storage benches, ottomans and boxes is all very well and good, but if you don’t have the space, we’re more than happy to help you improvise. Our blog post on ideas for storage in small bedrooms should help guide you on the right track, but the key thing to remember is that storage shouldn’t feel as if it is overtaking your room - the whole point is to give you a sense of space.
We may have mentioned that Feng Shui experts are against popping things underneath thebut if you absolutely have to, just be sure to do it by way of several small boxes - much neater than simply throwing everything underneath and hoping you’ll soon forget it’s there. Unfortunately ‘out of sight, out of mind’ rarely tends to be true. Small boxes present a happy medium - and it’s not as if the Feng Shui experts will turn up at your house in the middle of the night, ready to take a disapproving sneaky peek.
From making sure youris fully customised with all the cupboard and drawer space you might need, to utilising the power of shelving and hanging hooks on backs of doors, this handy blog post will show you all the tricks of our trade. No matter how much you need to store in how tiny a space, Habitat has all you need to make small the new beautiful.
