WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF STOOL AVAILABLE?
If you have a bar in your dining room or an island in your kitchen, then it’s more than likely that you’ll be shopping for stools. But do you even know where to begin? Believe it or not, there’s a lot of options...
To begin with, we have bar stools. That one’s easy to explain - the clue is in the name. Then there are kitchen or dining room stools, or stools for a breakfast bar. Again, for all; so far, so self-explanatory. But what makes them different? Well, that all comes down to the height factor. A regular kitchen counter tends to be lower than a bar, so the key is to make sure you know how tall the stools are or, at the very least, know that they are adjustable.
Speaking of adjustable, the fact is that the height of a stool isn't necessarily transparent. They can be made taller or shorter, depending on your individual preferences. If you only need a couple of stools for, say, your dining room, but think you may need several more when guests come over, then folding stools are a good option if you want to stove a few away out of sight. To that end, storage stools are ideal if you entertain regularly.
WHAT MATERIALS, COLOURS AND STYLES DO HABITAT'S STOOLS COME IN?
No matter your chosen theme for interior design, we have a stool that will really help to bring your home to life. Think about it; you have a contemporary, minimalist-style kitchen in the shiniest, cleanest white, with marble work tops. Wouldn’t it look so much more striking if you had bright red bar stools, just calling out to be sat on? It’s the little things, breaking away from the style norm, that can make all the difference in terms of decor. Add colour, live a little. (If red isn’t your vibe, we house many other colours, including vibrant green and the brightest blue.)
If something a little more classic is for you, we also have designs that come in black, white or grey - but you needn’t stop at one shade. If you are investing in several stools at once, why not mix it up a little bit? A mixture of shades is a great way of injecting a statement look, without breaking up your colour scheme.
That’s the colour taken care of, but what about composition? Well what works for you will completely depend on where the stool is headed. Is the room decorated in a modern aesthetic? In this case metal will work well, particularly in the aforementioned whiter than white kitchen. That being said, if you kitchen is predominantly wooden, more traditional, then metal can present a striking contrast. The two textures work beautifully together - the very definition of ‘industrial chic’. That being said, in this instancewill also work just as well when it comes to enhancing a classic vibe. Alternatively, if you’re more of a minimalist, then our plastic bar stools should fit the bill nicely. Keep them clear or opt for a block colour. Either way, the final look is one of uncomplicated, streamlined elegance. The beauty of plastic stools lies in their ability to look so contemporary, while at the same times portraying shades of vintage; think Andy Warhol and the sixties. See what we mean?
BUYING BREAKFAST BAR STOOLS ONLINE
When it comes to ordering a stool online, it really couldn’t be easier. Start by visualising the room at home that your new stool will live in. Would your chosen stool look out of place, or seamlessly blend in? Imagine how many you might need. Will it be too many for the space? Too few? Perhaps you have a family of three, yet if you buy only three, it might look as if the breakfast bar is calling out for a fourth. Sometimes it’s all about symmetry. It’s not just about the stool, but how the stool fits into the room.
If you’re in doubt regarding the fit, then it’s best to bring out the tape measure. Each product page will reveal all about your chosen stool’s dimensions, so all you need to do is get measuring. Is it tall enough? Is the space wide enough for it to fit? Other things to think about include the design of the stool itself. Do you need it to be supportive? If so, then a stool with a raised back would be best. On the other hand, if for any reason you feel the sitter might need to swivel a lot, perhaps at a party where everyone is mingling, then backless is the only way to go. Having said that, if it’s an all night party, then your guests might appreciate some upholstered, lightly cushioned support to take them through the night...
So many stools, so many ways to swivel.
