DESIGNING THE DECADES
One thing about velvet is its versatility of design. The oversized proportions and button back detailing of the Hendricks sofa (above) clad in velvet give a nod to lazy lounging of the 70’s, whilst the Hawkins armchair (left) was inspired by the Memphis design movement of the 1980’s. The velvet fixed bolster cushion is in perfect contrast to the intricately buttoned seat crafted using the traditional capitonné method. Same ingredients, two very different places to rest.
Velvet may be all about the glamour but it’s tough enough to stand up to the rigours of daily life. Both the Rupert and Chester ranges (right) have become a family favourite - soft and sumptuous but without airs and graces. Choose from individual sofas or modular pieces so you can configure your space as you wish. A deep seat to sink yourself into works especially well with velvet. Look to Askem, Louis and Abel for seriously stylish relaxation.
