OPERATION DREAM KITCHEN
My flat is in a Victorian conversion in Streatham, South London. The kitchen is of quite a good size so I wanted somewhere where I would be able to cook and eat comfortably, with a better layout and a good use of space.
A MEETING OF THE MINDS
On the recommendation of a friend, who was very excited having seen Habitat’s kitchen showroom in their Tottenham Court Road store, I went to take a look at the range. The staff were so helpful; they had really cool ideas, understood what I was looking for and had great designs. An added bonus was that they gave me the option to spread payments.
THINKING OUT OF THE BOX
I couldn’t afford a granite worktop and I really liked the look of concrete (although I’ve heard that it can chip really easily) so I was directed to a laminate which fools everyone! I love it in combination with the two-tone units. That’s something I wouldn’t have even thought of doing without the designer’s input.
Habitat were really great at helping me develop my own ideas, for example: I’d already sourced the tiles so they helped me find a design that worked with that; I really wanted a breakfast bar so they made a site visit to help me visualise that; they suggested that I move the sink under the window, which I now absolutely love. In general, they were just more flexible and innovative in their thinking.
