The larger than life interior designers have collaborated with Habitat to design and furnish a range of apartments in the heart of London’s east end.

Stop, Collaborate and Listen!

The whole ethos of Cuckooz resonated with both Jordan and Russell, “Being business travellers ourselves, we like the idea of staying in an apartment - it’s great to know in advance what you can expect, whilst also having the freedom to relax as you would at home”. The project, encompassing 9 serviced apartments, created the opportunity for collaborations with not only local designers, but also Habitat, with whom the couple have a long-running relationship.

Living In A Box

With no specific ‘client’ to speak of, 2LG Studio designed for the global traveller, a Mr and Mrs Smith with a savvy design eye and an expectation of service and quality. “There were so many boxes to tick, but that’s what made it really exciting”, says Jordan. Stand-out features on this project include the soft-furnishings. “For some people, layers in an interior have become a bit passé”, explains Russell. “But, this is a new-build and essentially we are working with white boxes here; the addition of rugs and cushions changes the soul and the vibe of the apartments.” The Tico concrete table is also a favourite - moved inside it creates statement Japanese minimalism when coupled with black wooden chairs.

2 Lovely Gays

The couple, former actors, launched their business in 2014. Taking their name from the suffix of their first postcode, 2LG, they became known to their friends as the 2 Lovely Gays. ‘Restrained opulence’ is a term that’s been used to describe their style and their speedy rise to interior fame has included numerous private residential projects, an office space in Hammersmith and the complete overhaul of a 20 room hotel in Kent.
