IN LOVE
Absolutely LOVE my new Smeg kettle and the variable temperature is something I never knew I needed. It's an awesome feature as I love my Matcha and herbal teas so to be able to make those the right temperature has been life changing ;-) It boils super quickly and not loud at all

Beautiful and great temp control feature
I bought this to go with the toaster already purchased for our caravan. Really lovey looking and I wanted the temperature control for making coffee. Works as it should.

Great for heating water to different temperatures
This is a great kettle. The variable temperature is great for when you want to make matcha or other green teas that require lower temperatures or if you’re making normal tea and want to warm the pot. It also look lovely! Surprisingly it plays a tone when the water has reached temperature. I thought that this might be annoying but it somehow isn’t. In any case you can switch that feature off apparently if you don’t want or need it.

Smeg 50’s Style Retro Variable Temperature Kettle
I’ve been using the kettle for approximately three weeks now and it is a very attractive thing to look at as far as kettle go, does what it says it does. Boils water to the selected temperature by using a little ball ended chrome looking lever on the base by pushing or pulling backwards or forwards, press the power on button (which in all honesty is quite loose, so much so that my partner accused me of breaking it when she first used it!) select temperature (preset at 100 degrees) press the power button again to boil. The hold temperature function basically reboils the water for you every minute or so. Now, minus the power button everything else I’m happy with, what I’m not happy with however is how flimsy and cheap the handle is. It’s some kind of chrome coloured plastic that flexes and twists in your hand when filling and pouring, not a lot, but what you might expect out or a two year old kettle. Quite honestly it winds me up every time I use it because a sturdy handle should be fitted to something of this price, Regis material like the spout perhaps? If you’re reading the reviews and considering this kettle than this is as honest as I could be; decent kettle, looks nice and works fine but the button and handle need some more consideration by the boffins at Smeg. I’m glad I bought it but with I have payed half the price!
