The mattress is quite firm, even with the soft layer it doesn’t soften it much, the top layer also flattens down quickly, however the mattress is well made and good quality and is described as firm, I just expected the top to add a little softness

"There are 1000 pocket springs in the mattress". It's not 800 springs.

Having checked I can confirm there are 1000 springs. The pillowtop layer is sewn onto the mattress so is not removable and there are no handles on the mattress.
