After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Habitat 480 Warm White LED Christmas Tree Lights: The transformer controls the lights. No remote control is required. The mode can be changed using the button on the transformer.

This product is not described as being tangle-free, the long cable and spacing between bulbs (6 cm) can help reduce tangling if handled carefully.
To minimize tangling, you can:

You change the mode via the transformer. Just press the button on the transformer to cycle through the different lighting modes. There are 8 modes in total, ranging from twinkling to static.
Once you have found the desired lighting mode, release the button. The lights will remain in that mode until you change it again.

The supplier has advised the following for the 480 Multicoloured LED Christmas Tree Lights:
ā Hold the button on the transformer for a few seconds until the lights turn off, this indicates that the timer is off. You then just need to tap the button to turn the lights back on to the desired pattern. To turn the timer back on do the same again but this time the lights will turn on. ā
