Worth every penny
I purchased my Kitchenaid as my aging arms are complaining from my old school non-mechanical baking methods. It mixes so quickly and efficiently I am a total convert. The attachments are easy to change and mix thoroughly to the edges of the bowl. The unit is quieter than I expected and in addition it just looks beautiful. So far I have made cakes, scones and bread using my Kitchenaid and have been impressed with all the results, particularly breads and scones are lighter and obtained a better rise than from hand mixing. My favourite kitchen purchase in years.

Excellent gadget that will get used.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Best piece of kitchen equipment I’ve had. I bought the pastry beater as I do a lot of pastry, it mixes it far better than a previous food processor I owned. I also bought the sifter and scale, it’s one add on that’s a must. My only negative is, I bought the official easy beginners recipe book and the measurements are all American cups and we use grams and litres or the old imperial.

I cannot remember how long I had my last KitchenAid but all good things must come to an end! It worked so hard for so many years for me and I knew I could not manage without it! So along comes KitchenAid number two, exactly the same colour, exactly the same model, exactly the same features but just a bit more sprightly and up to date! Buying at the sale price was an incentive and it is already working away for me making my weekly bread, along with cakes and other homemade goodies. I wonder if this one will see me out!

No is hasn't. Just use the first 2 lower gears . They are use on adding so you don't splash .

The only model number we have listed is 5KSM125BCU or 5KSM125.
The splatter guard with model number 5KN1PS will fit For 3 L, 4.3 L and 4.8 L Bowls, except 4.8 L Glass Bowl 5KSM5GB and Frosted Glass Bowl 5K5GBF
The 5KSM125 uses a 4.8 litre stainless steel bowl so it should be compatible with the splatter guard 5KN1PS

The care and cleaning (pg 12) instructions state:
Bowl, white flat beater and white spiral dough hook may be washed in an automatic dishwasher. Or, clean them thoroughly in hot sudsy water and rinse completely before drying. Wire whip, burnished spiral dough hook and burnished flat beater should be hand washed and dried immediately. Do not wash wire whip, burnished spiral dough hook and burnished flat beater in a dishwasher. Do not store beaters on shaft.
NOTE: Always be sure to unplug stand mixer before cleaning. Wipe stand mixer with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use household/commercial cleaners. Do not immerse in water. Wipe off beater shaft frequently, removing any residue that may accumulate.

The dough hook K45DH** is made out of aluminium and anti-stick nylon coated. (Dishwasher safe).

You can make dough with this and it comes with a dough hook. It doesn't come with the required parts to allow it to make breadcrumbs though.

Medallion Silver or the old original dark grey are 1 and the same , its just the tribute color to the old models .
the color variety is only available on the us websites as far as i know .
