Third time lucky!
Great design and increidbly stylish but...Be aware. The brass on the bottom of the lamp is very thin and two of the lamps we purchased were dented. One of them had a faulty switch and would not stay on as well as the dented brass. One had two dents in the brass at the bottom which were very noticeable. After lots of messing about with CS and returns, we finally got a third one which was fine. The lamp is very sturdy and incredibly heavy. It is a decent height and can accommodate a range of shades. As it is wood, the shades vary so much, so if you are purchasing two, be aware that they will probably not be the same colour. One of ours was dark, then light then mid tone. There are descrepancies in the wood, but these add to the charm.

A good quality heavy lamp base
The design reminds me of the ceramic insulation pots you see on pylons, may be that was the inspiration for the lamp, Habitat have used stranger, who can forget the 'U bend' vase. The wood is well turned and finished, the gold coloured parts hopefully don't chip or discolour too quickly. Th choice of lamp shade, which of course is a personal choice, make the lamp base a statement piece at a reasonable price
