Bought this to get through the cold winter. It is large but doesn't quite cover a double mattress, leaves about 2 or 3 inches around the sides. The controller works well and warms up quickly. Only downsides are that it makes the mattress feel quite hard as there is a thick felt pad which the heating element sits in and where the connector attaches to the mattress leaves a big bit of plastic sticking up.

It's recommended to turn off the appliance before falling asleep to regulate your core temperature for a less disturbed sleep. We would not recommend to leave it on all night.

The supplier has advised the following for the Silentnight Comfort Control Electric Underblanket - Double:
"This would be fine, as long as the electric blanket is covered following instructions in the manual provided. However, please note that mattress protectors are designed to go under sheeting, to keep them protected and extend the longevity.
We can only advise for Silentnight mattress protectors. All Silentnight products are safe to use with an electric blanket however other brands would need to be checked with the manufacturer directly. In regards to waterproof or plastic backed protectors, again the Silentnight is safe to use however, if there is a likelihood of an accident we do recommend the electric blanket is switch off and unplugged while in bed."
