Good bin but don't use cheep batteries.
The negative first. The batteries I used were a Supermarkets own make as that was all I had in. When placed in the battery compartment they seemed a little slack and seem to have movement. The lid worked fine on the bench but when I put it on the bin it was just not working. Took it off and checked the batteries and they had moved as if they were going to fall out so I placed a little bit of kitchen roll under the battery lid and it worked for a few days. When I changed the bin liner I had the same problems again and if felt like the springs that compress the batteries together were week. Anyway I went and bought some copper coloured top batteries (you know the ones) and they fit much tighter and when the lid was upside down as it would be when on the bin they were actually staying put so the supermarket ones must have been slightly smaller by a fraction but enough to not connect properly. The lid has been off quite a few times now to change the bag and everything is working fine. Now the good bit - The bin is of a good size and shape so your 50L bin bags fit perfect and you get more in because of the oblong shape compared to the round one I replaced. The lid rises up very smoothly and quietly. The sensor to open the bin is more to the left button rather than the centre of the bin. I like the function where you press the right button and the lid stays up for ages which is perfect when your preparing food. The bin looks very stylish and quite upmarket compared to my last sensor bin. So, whether the battery compartment itself could be made to be a fractionally tighter fit for the batteries or whether cheep batteries are slightly smaller in some way I'm not sure but I would recommend you buy good quality batteries. If these end up loose I shall be taking the bin back but I will be gutted if this ends up the case as I really like this bin.

Perfect size
The bin is a good size and has a smooth closure. Easy to empty and change bag. Much cleaner lid due to responsiveness so no finger prints. I did move it to a different part of the kitchen because it kept opening when someone walked by.

The Habitat 50 Litre Brushed Stainless Steel Sensor Bin will not mark easily. Also as this is a sensor bin you simply swipe your hand over the lid and it will start to open. Then 5 seconds after you've popped your rubbish in the lid will slowly start to close.
