It's likely to be OK though there's a number of factors to consider that don't directly relate to the carpet itself such as how flat and level the floor underneath is. It's possible that a thinner pile carpet or wood floor is likely to be smoother and allow greater stability than a thick pile one but it's not likely to be a significant difference.
