To recline it or adjust the recline, you lift the arms and lean back. There's 4 or 5 settings it can be reclined to. This will be a fixed position, not rocking backwards and forwards.

- Cushions are to be dry cleaned only
- do not machine wash the cushions.
- For cleaning the chair/stool frame, use only a mild detergent and warm water.
- DO NOT USE BLEACH.
- DO NOT USE any abrasive substances.
- From time to time, check your glider chair and stool for loose screws, and worn parts. Replace or adjust the parts as needed

Thank you for your query, the short answer is no they cannot be washed in the machine but I have attached the full instructions from the instruction manual regarding cleaning your item.

To clean the fabric parts use a cloth dampened with water and/or mild soap or a professional product to clean the fabric. Do not use bleach.

The chair and stool comes in 13 parts with all fittings also supplied. There are 8 steps to the assembly but some of those steps require fixing 4 screws.
