firm but comfortable
We bought this mattress about a month ago and we're pretty happy with it so far. The first few days it felt a little too hard when sleeping on one's side -- not much give. But either we got used to it or (more likely) it grew softer. Now it's just right. But definitely the "medium firm" description seems a little off.

Silentnight Mattress
Bought as a replacement for my son’s bed, so far no complaints. It’s supportive and comfortable and expect it to last longer than his previous mattress which was a cheaper one. It is a bit pricey but you get what you pay for.

A single mattress would be suitable for a body weight of around 18 stones. It would probably support more weight but for heavier than this space would be more the issue
