The Habitat Compton 2 Drawer Bookcase gives you storage that works hard and looks smart in your living room or home office. It's a tall unit with five shelves for displaying books, plants and decorative bits you want to show off, while two bottom drawers hide away the things you don't. The matt black finish makes everything you put on it stand out, so your favourite pieces get the attention they deserve. The contemporary cut-out handles keep the look clean and streamlined. There's plenty of room to arrange things your way across the five divided areas.
The shelves are a mix of fixed and adjustable, so you can adapt the height to suit what you're storing, whether that's tall vases or stacked paperbacks. The wood effect finish gives it a modern feel without fuss. It's tall at 180cm, so wall-fixing brackets are included and really important for stability, especially if you've got kids or pets around. Self-assembly is required, and everything you need comes in the box. The unit's narrow depth at 29cm means it fits neatly against walls without eating up floor space.

Middling quality and scuffed up
Bought this and it came pretty scuffed on all parts. Not a big deal for us cause you get what you pay for.

Looks good but uses flimsy plastic dowels, one broke when we assembled it and we had to superglue it back together. So a bit disapppinting there.

Looks nice but definitely a budget bookcase
Martial parts not numbered, some screws say are in the bag one but actually in with drawers runners. The back comes in 3 sections small medium and large. Although you do tack it on with pins around the edges there is just tape holding the sections together. This is grey tape so you can see it on both side. The drawers are not very wide or deep, there is a lot of wasted space at the back. No matter where you place the shelves there is not much room for taller items. Not bad for the price but I also feel it could be a little cheaper for what it is.

The product unfortunately isn’t as visually appealing as it looks in the photos. Not as sturdy as you’d assume however its function is still good.

It's a black bookcase - with 2 drawers.
Bought this to house my ever-growing collection of board games, and does a great job of it. I knew it would be up to task, as I already have another one of these. My one gripe, is building it. The instructions are mostly clear, but trying to work out which fixings are which is a bit of a headache! Overall though, good product.

Yes, shelves can be removed from this unit. As can be seen in the assembly manual (linked below) there are 2 shelves fixed in position, and 3 adjustable shelves.

The drawers on the Habitat Compton 2 Drawer Bookcase - Black are removable however, if left out, the base would be the extra shelf, it would not be possible to add an additional shelf in between the two drawers for example. However, we would not recommend the use in this way.

As all the panels already have pre-drilled holes for the drawers & shelves, the bottom drawer can’t be place higher up.
