Easy assembly with preparation
With full preparation including measuring and orientation of all wooden parts before the build … the assembly was straight forwards. You only need a tape measure and two screwdrivers and a small mallet to assemble the unit. Definitely would recommend two people for assembly

Fabulous Shelves
This shelves are great. It took quite a bit of time to get it together but we got there in the end and we are very pleased with the end result. We bought the shelves to show off our ever expanding Lego collection and it does that excellently.

Storage unit
Looks much better than I thought it would. A little tricky to work out some of the building instructions, but overall not too complicated and I left my husband to do this. Two people needed to lift it once built. Loads of room on the shelving. We are very happy with the overall look. Good sturdy piece of furniture. Great value for money.

Looks great.
Great and perfect for the space we needed it in. Building it was fine but one defining lack of clarity in the building instructions leaflet set us back. Figured it out eventually.

Great quality and asthetics
Straight forward to put together and reasonably quick. About an hour. Is very heavy so you need two people ideally to lift it in the standing up position as you build it flat on the ground . Very pleased with the look and sturdy nature.

I made it work.
So I bought this as I have an odd sized alcove and no desire to drill in to the wall. This item nearly broke me! The instructions are okay. Items are labelled, albeit a little bit difficult to see on the edges sometimes. It's very heavy! unfortunately two of the pieces were damaged. I turned them around so not visible. One of the pieces had a measuring issue, it was about 3mm too large and therefore there's a small gap on one side. So, it's not the best manufactured item but it's serviceable as my step dad came and saved the day.

Looks nice but very hard to put together!
It's hard to know how to review this because it looks pretty nice now that it's put together (especially for the price we paid) and it's a lovely large bookshelf, but it is truly the hardest piece of flat pack we've ever put together. My husband and I spent ages doing it and annoyingly one of the holes wasn't made quite right which we noticed towards the end, but we were too frustrated to deal with requesting a new part. It's also VERY heavy as others have said so make sure to put it together very near where you plan to place it.

well designed and made
Very sturdy bookcase, well designed and made. We've used it as a room divide for teenage bedroom and it looks great. All the different shelf spaces can display an assortment of things ie plants, books lego ornaments!

Disappointing Quality
Pretty disappointed with this shelving unit. This was a nightmare to build - unclear instructions and needed 2 of us with a lot of space to lay out all the parts as you build them. Once up it doesn’t feel very sturdy, a few joints don’t butt up and tighten to close the gaps and the sliding feature to extend or split the unit at a right angle isn’t easy to move. Also already seems to be bowing a little under the weight of records. Looks like fairly cheap and bland office furniture, was expecting a lot better and higher quality from Habitat.

Really difficult to assemble
It's a real shame that this is so difficult to assemble. With 2 of us we really struggled with the weight of the product and getting the sliding mechanism to work. The pins are so small to attach the sliding pieces that they kept coming out of the groove and scratching the board. Really disappointing as now it's up it looks nice, but has been scratched in places. In the end we had to remove the sliding pins as we couldn't get them secure.

Hello Cc,
The supplier has advised the following for the Extendable Wide Shelving Unit - White:
"The backing is part of the construction, please do not remove it." (So, no you cannot build it without its back panel).

Hi Lucretia,
The unit can extend from 122 to 206cm. When not extended the product will look like this: https://media.4rgos.it/i/Argos/9497511_R_Z001...
I would advise getting the Habitat Extendable Wide Shelving Unit - White into the desired position and then securing it.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi Solly,
Thanks for your query about the Extendable Wide Shelving Unit - Oak.
No it's not suitable for wall mounting. The way the parts fix together is configured with the intention that it rests flat on the floor, not with the weight hanging from points along the back of the unit.
Thanks for using Q&A.

Hi Flat Pack Fairy,
Thanks for your query about the Extendable Wide Shelving Unit - White.
The two sections of the unit are fixed together with a dowel on the top of one shelf that fits into a long slot on the underside of the shelves. This allows it to be moved out or in up to a maximum distance. You can pull it fully out, as far as the slot allows and turn it to make an L-shape. When fully out, it could be turned to a different angle but, with all the shelves being right angled, you'll likely get the edges sticking out in odd places.
Thanks for using Q&A.
