Better than nowt
Stayed in rental accommodation that we had booked for a week. The mattress was so bad we couldn't sleep. In desperation bought this - one of the only options for collection that day at a reasonable price point. It did improve the situation sufficiently inasmuch as it was possible to sleep. However, as other reviews say it is thin, not much thicker than a duvet. .

It does a good job. Makes my hard mattress a little bit more soft and also protects it from stains etc. can be washed in a washing machine.

The Silentnight Luxury Hotel Collection Mattress Topper - Double is approximately 2cm thick. This product is not a solid structure such as memory foam and will therefore decrease in depth when pressure is applied and requires daily plumping and shaking to return it to its original shape.

The Argos Spring/Summer 2018 catalogue states 2.5cm for this item (catalogue identifier 599/6827 and also the double and single sizes)..
For my brand new kingsize, aired overnight to decompress, I measured 3cm by laying cards above and below and measuring the gap. I estimate that this compressed to about 1/2 cm between finger and thumb, but possibly a bit less.
