The supplier has advised the following for the 50mm Faux Wooden Venetian Blind - White :
Without being able to see the blind, we cannot give exact advise as to the cause of your issue. It should be able to lock or unlock according to where you move the cord. Pulling it to one side will release it and pulling it the opposite way will lock it.

In theory the venetian blinds can be trimmed width wise but the manufacturer doesn't recommend doing this as it is tricky to do and you end up with edges that don't match the rest of the blind
