Great blanket.
I bought this for my my brother's Christmas present. He reports that is very happy to have a warm bed in this cold weather, and particularly likes the timer feature, which means he can relax in the knowledge that it will turn itself off if he inadvertently falls asleep. Good to know it is washable too.

After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Slumberdown Perfectly Warm Luxury Electric Blanket - Single: The current standard recommendation is you use the blanket to pre-heat your bed and turn off once you get in.
This is a caution warning to avoid user falling asleep while the banket is still on the highest heat setting.
You can still use a heated blanket while you’re in bed, the warning message is there to make you aware that the blanket should be switched off or lowered to the lowest heat setting before you drift off to sleep.

This is because the direct heat will discolour the foam over time.''

The controls have an on/off switch. Different heat settings can be chosen for both body and feet, with a timer of 1, 5, 8 or 12 hours, all operated by buttons on the controller and clicking through the options of heat and time as required.
The control unit is plugged into the blanket, which can be pulled apart, similar to the way a phone charger is plugged into a phone.

The Slumberdown Perfectly Warm Luxury Electric Blanket - Single measures 80 cm x 150 cm, this might be a bit small. You might want to consider a double size electric blanket instead, which would provide better coverage and comfort for your 4ft mattress size.
