We bought this mattress 2 weeks ago now as we needed to upgrade to the kingsize. 1 negative is that it doesn't have handles to rotate the mattress. Otherwise excellent quality and just a bit bouncy

The Silentnight Miracoil Travis Memory Mattress is approx. 25cm deep. A fitted sheet would have to be at least 25cm to fit the mattress.

If you want your sheets to go right underneath all sides then yes you will need deep fitted sheets.

If you've lower back pain, I'd advise you to invest in a geltex mattress. There are options in the Silentnight collection and the Sealy Activ collection that will be more suitable for your requirements
This mattress has a soft knit fabric which gives that soft bouncy feel but it isn't a mattress that will mould to your body. If this is the type of mattress that you are looking for, I suspect that you would prefer a memory foam mattress, in which case, the Silentnight Middleton 800 or Middleton 1000 may be more to your liking and requirements
