Habitat x Unplugged

Known for their off-grid cabins and mindful approach to modern living, Unplugged have created beautifully designed cabins in remote corners of the UK, encouraging people to step away from the noise of everyday life and reconnect with what matters most. We've worked with the Unplugged team to celebrate our shared belief in thoughtful design and intentional living.
About Habitat x Unplugged
Today's homes have become places to rest, reconnect and recharge. Habitat x Unplugged celebrates a slower, more considered approach to living through furniture, lighting, bedding and accessories designed with comfort and longevity in mind.
Shot across Unplugged cabins and the surrounding landscapes, this collaboration celebrates simple moments of comfort, calm and connection. From cosy throws and inviting seating to soft lighting and thoughtfully designed furniture, every piece has been chosen to help create spaces that make slowing down feel effortles.

Revive and thrive
Less rushing. Less scrolling. More space for the things that truly restore us – we picked Grace from Unplugged’s brains for some tips on reconnecting.

Why boredom needs a rebrand
Boredom used to be a normal, daily human experience. Now, it's so rare that most of us can't sit with it for five minutes without reaching for a screen.
When your mind has nowhere it has to be, it wanders. Boredom is said to be the “catalyst for creativity” because when you’re bored or idle, your brain connects existing dots in your memory and generates new ideas. That’s why you have your best ideas in the shower, in nature or when you’re daydreaming. Boredom also restores your attention, the same way that rest rebuilds a muscle.
"There is so much beauty in boredom, and it’s a feeling worth making space for” - Grace Hawkins Taylor

Definitely take that afternoon nap
At some point in the UK, the nap got a bad rep. The image of someone asleep in the middle of the day became shorthand for being… lazy. Which is strange when you consider that for most of human history, in most parts of the world, a midday rest is completely normal – the Spanish siesta, the Japanese inemuri!
Taking afternoon naps is actually very good for you. The body has a natural dip in energy in the early afternoon (the crash you feel at around 3pm) which is a normal biological rhythm that we share with a lot of other mammals. Research consistently shows that a short nap restores alertness in a way that caffeine can't fully replicate.
The timing of your nap is key for it to work and not leave you feeling groggy - aim for around 20 minutes and in early to mid-afternoon. A NASA study found that a 26-minute nap improved pilot alertness by over 50%. So take this as your reminder that a nap isn’t lazy, it’s actually a very productive thing to do.

Switch off
When we're looking to switch off, many of us reach for our phones. But the activities that often leave us feeling most restored tend to be the ones that ask for our full attention.
Across the country, analogue hobbies are enjoying a quiet renaissance. Reading, baking, crafting and collecting are all making a comeback, offering an antidote to the endless scroll.
There's something deeply satisfying about getting lost in a novel beneath a blanket, spending an afternoon perfecting a recipe or creating something with your hands. These activities require focus, but not urgency. They're immersive without being demanding.
Unlike digital content, which feels infinite, analogue experiences have a natural beginning and end. A chapter. A recipe. A magazine. A record. The moments we remember most are often the simplest. A lingering breakfast, an afternoon nap, a conversation on the sofa or an evening spent with loved ones.
