Choosing the best material for bed sheets
Light and airy or plush and snuggly, the material really makes a difference.
Cotton bedding
Cotton is generally cool in the summer and cosy during winter. Egyptian cotton can also be a great choice, as it is woven from longer strands of cotton, which creates bedding that's smooth and strong.
Polycotton bedding
Cotton blend bedding like cotton and polyester can be easier to care for and is an affordable and durable option for regular use.
Consider the thread count

What is thread count?
Thread count is the number of horizontal and vertical threads woven into each square inch of fabric.
What is a good thread count for a duvet cover?
While thread count is a factor in choosing bedding, it shouldn't be the only thing you look at.
A duvet with a higher thread count can have a thicker, smoother feel, but fibre quality and weave also play a big part in the overall quality. Similarly, lower thread count doesn’t mean lower quality. You may actually prefer a lower thread count if it’s summer, or if you get hot at night.

Maintaining your bedding

Tips to care for your bedding
- Wash and change your sheets often: Do this ideally once a week, to keep them fresh and clean. It is recommended to separate your bedding from daily clothes when washing.
- Don't forget about your pillows and duvet: These need cleaning at regular intervals. Check the product instructions beforehand to know the best way to care for them.
- Stick to lukewarm water and a gentle detergent: Avoid harsh cleaning products as these may damage some delicate bedding materials.
- Use a mattress protector: These are designed to protect against bacteria and mites to keep your mattress in good condition for longer.
- Store bedding in a cool, dry place: Use storage boxes for seasonal bedding and thicker duvets.
