Who are you?
My name is Hannah Trickett. I’m the founder and editor of Hannah in the house, an interiors blog focussing on Scandinavian design, lifestyle and travel. I’m half Danish, half British. I’ve lived in London for 11 years, originally from a seaside town up north called Cleethorpes. My Danish heritage has contributed to my obsession with Scandinavian design and culture. I’ve also completed a BA, Decorative Arts degree and worked as an Interior designer, in and around London.
What’s the day job?
I was an interior designer for many years in London. Now I’ve branched out on my own, with my blog Hannah in the house as my main day job, this is a great platform for people to see my styling, contact me for design consultations and get inspired by the things that I love. I’m fortunate enough to work in the comfort of my own home with my cat Hansel who often features on my instagram posts.
What does your dream day look like?
It’s hard to pick a dream day scenario as I love to do so much. Probably a day where I’d explore the outdoors get lost in nature, visit some architecture, see some cool design and giggle a lot and eat great food.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
I’ve visited Copenhagen for work quite a few times over the last few years and I absolutely love it. The architecture, design and lifestyle really appeals to me. Which you can probably tell on my blog. To live there would be incredible.
What’s the first thing you check out when visiting someone’s home for the first time?
Layout. Doesn’t sound exciting but I find it really interesting how people shape their homes. I often change things around in my own home, by altering the position of tables or sofas can really improve the way you live.
What’s your interior addiction?
I’m pretty addicted to products that have minimal forms and simple silhouettes. Pared down design made with beautiful materials.
What makes you really angry?
The housing crisis in the UK and absolutely absurd rental prices and living standards forced on those who have no choice.
Pick a favourite film, book and song.
I can’t pick
Best place you’ve ever been on holiday?
This year I’ve been to Iceland, Denmark and Sweden and I’ve seriously loved it. Touring Scandinavia is one of my favourite things to do on holiday. I want to see more!
What’s your favourite smell?
The smell of spring. There’s a certain smell in the air when spring is on it’s way and I love it, it fills me with excitement and optimism.
What single thing would improve your life?
My health is something that’s been a challenging factor in my life and there’s much room for improvement. I’ve had quite a few brain surgeries, getting over those has been a very slow process, we mustn’t take our health for granted!
What are you bad at that you wish you did well?
Baking bread! I really need help, the only thing I can make is Danish buns called rundstykker but that’s it, I’m hopeless at loafs and would love to make sourdough.
What would be your Death Row meal?
Oh what a horrible question!! Even the thought of it brings chills down my spine. I am a nervous eater so I’d just eat loads of cake.
