A phrase you’ll hear a lot around Habitat is “the hand of the maker”; that a product is crafted, often handmade (if not in its entirety then in aspects), and that the skill from a craftsman’s own fingers is indelibly embedded in the make up of many Habitat products. This statement couldn’t be more true than of the Marteau pendant light.
Marteau are a range of ceiling lights made in India, a country known for its artisanal manufacturing, and come in a range of metal colours – gold, pewter and copper – but regardless of its hue, its beauty is in its shape and finish.
Each shade is made from a single sheet of brass; the factory uses a slightly more maleable brass sheeting in order to make this product.
The sheeting is then placed within a machine which compresses the metal into a dome shape and is followed by polishing.
Definitely a light worthy of a place in your home. Shop Marteau, in all its size and guises, here.
