The new-season collections are in-store and online – we love it all, but everyone has their favourite. Team Habitat reveal their pick of the bunch.
Polly Dickens, creative director
‘From the moment I saw the first sketches of the Sura rattan chairs, designed by Naoko Kanehira from our in-house design team, I knew they were going to be extremely special. They have a wonderful spatial, linear quality. I think the design is unique in the way a very pure, modern Japanese aesthetic meets something intrinsically European from the 1960s. I spent time working on these pieces in the Indonesian factory where they’re made, sorting out the detailing and making sure that as well as being robust enough for everyday life, the fineness of the design was retained. This kind of hands-on experience always gives me a special association and affection for a product.’
Rebecca Hoyes, senior designer for textiles/pattern & colour
‘Both the Blot and Zulpo collections have been worked into textiles from painterly artworks created in our studio. Using digital print as well as screen and knitted jacquards, the spontaneous and seductively inky qualities have been skilfully translated into a range of striking textile and tabletop pieces. Blot and Zulpo are great examples of how modern manufacturing and handcrafted techniques can come together to create wonderfully unique and distinctive product for the home.’
