Here’s our top tips to keep you motivated when working at home.

Whilst at first working from home sounds like the ultimate dream, after a while we can start to go stir crazy, lose all motivation and start to pick up all sorts of bad habits. But don’t worry, we all do it, which is why we’re here to help you fight it. By following these quick and easy tips, you’ll be smashing through that to-do list in no time…

1. MAINTAIN A GOOD ROUTINE

Whilst staying up till 2am every night binge watching your new favourite TV series sounds appealing, it can have a massive impact on your physical and mental well-being over time – so you want to make sure you put together a daily routine and stick to it. Segment your day into blocks and remember to include breaks throughout the day. Enjoyable activities help break up those daunting tasks and keep your motivation flowing.

2. SET SMALLER TARGETS

When faced with a never ending list of things to do, it can be easy to loose track of the end objective. Each morning, set aside 5 minutes of your time to put together a to-do list and note down when certain tasks need to be completed by. Be sure to break down bigger tasks into smaller steps and celebrate each time you complete a step – this will help keep your overall moral and motivation high. Putting lists together can help you stay on track of your tasks and, at the end of each day, you can see what you have achieved, and which tasks you need to pick up tomorrow. If your someone that likes to write everything down, remember to fill your office desk with stylish storage to avoid your desk area becoming cluttered.

3. PRACTISE GOOD SELF CARE

If you’re running on empty, you’ll never be your best self. Most often than not try and stick to a healthy diet, have plenty of rest and a good self care routine to keep you at your very best. Throughout the day, be sure to listen to your body and its needs – stand up, stretch, go for a walk or even do a work out, whatever it is, a little movement can make a big difference to your overall mood. And remember to take a lot of breaks throughout the day, you wouldn’t work for a solid 8 hours in the office, so make sure you don’t do this at home. For every hour of work you do, take a 5 minute break to get up and do something else, away from the screen. Make another cup of tea, have a snack, read a chapter of your book or go outside for some fresh air; do whatever works best for you.

4. STAY HYDRATED AND GET ENOUGH SLEEP

Basic self-care is super important for your own well-being. Dehydration and lack of sleep will leave you feeling unfocused and easily distracted each day, so remember to feed your brain with healthy snacks, meals and plenty of water. To help keep on top of your 2 litres of water a day,  buy a stylish new glass or jug that’ll add a pop of colour to your office space. And when it comes to sleeping, you want to make sure you get between 7-9 hours of sleep to help you feel energised, because after all, a good night’s sleep is the perfect remedy for a motivated day. If you’re struggling to sleep at this time why not update your bedroom with new pillows, duvets and bedding sets to really help you find you zen?

Maybe it’s having a cup of tea in your favourite mug, those biscuits you’ve been saving for a special occasion or watching the next episode of the series you are binge-watching at the end of the day, a little incentive can go a very long way towards helping you to get your work done in a timely manner. So set that alarm, plan some mouth-wateringly good meals to keep you going through the day and smash out your to-do list.
