Where fashion goes, design is usually there right by its side, swapping ideas, materials, patterns and techniques. That’s certainly true in the case of Habitat’s new collections, where indigo blues are used in strokes and splashes in painterly patterns or intense blocks.
Could indigo blue topple grey as decor’s favourite colour? It has the same qualities. Grey is a chic, cool neutral that’s as easy a backdrop as white or beige, but feels smarter. Indigo, too, is a versatile starting point. It makes a dramatic statement, without feeling too overwhelming. It can hold its own with much darker shades or set off bright pops of colour – check out how the yellow Cora side table pops against the indigo Naoko sofa, above.
