Our new spring/summer collections are arriving in-store and online in the next couple of weeks, and textiles are always a big hitter. Rugs and cushions are an easy way to update a living room, bedroom or hallway; adding a hit of colour or pattern for the new season.
Assistant buyer for textiles, Frances Bell, has her eye on the Bowan rug and Elia cushion…
‘The Bowan rug is a real statement piece for Habitat as the technique used to make it has not been used in our collection before. It is made from recycled rags which are grouped into individual colours and constructed into the final pattern. We discovered this technique whilst on a buying trip to India and the overall look is beautiful – I love the black graphic design on the multicoloured base which gives a wonderful, heavy texture.’
‘Another favourite is the Elia cushion, the design of which comes from an original piece of artwork by Rebecca Hoyes (Habitat’s head of textiles and colour) that has been created using digital printing. This process has captured the painterly watercolours of the artwork so well. I love the intensity of the bright, summery colours.’
