India is a country very close to Habitat’s heart. Many of our products are designed, sourced and produced there, so it’s no surprise that we’ll be hotfooting it down to the V&A’s latest exhibition, The Fabric of India.
The exhibition is made up of some 200 handmade pieces with highlights including an eighteenth-century sultan’s tent, historic costumes, and contemporary fashion by Manish Arora; each piece inrticately woven, embroidered and decorated with India’s rich heritage for handmade craft.
The exhibition makes for a fascinating insight into the development of Indian textiles many of which, despite the pressures and demands of modern manufacturing methods, are still in production today. See you in the queue.
