Our charity partner for 2015 is Macmillan and to say fundraising is in full swing would be an understatement. Amongst the activities here at Habitat HQ, we have had potato printing workshops, life drawing classes, a ‘Foods Around the World’ lunch, cake sales, our resident photographer taking part in the Ironman triathlon, as well as cinema evenings. Phew! One of our latest (and most popular) events was a juice morning.
Last Wednesday morning we were treated to energising and revitalising juices whizzed up by two of our in-house designers, Matt Long and Nicola Chau.
The favourite amongst the team here was a zingy green juice of apple, cucumber, celery, spinach and ginger. This is a juice to get you glowing from the inside out: apple skins are rich in polyphenols which give anti-ageing properties; cucumbers are high in silicon and hydrating minerals and vitamins; and ginger has antiseptic properties that keep skin clear and blemish-free. It was so good, we want to treat you as well so here’s the recipe:
1 apple (cored)
quarter of a cucumber
2 or 3 sticks of celery
3 handfuls of spinach
a knob of ginger (peeled)
Place all the ingredients in a juicer and whizz until smooth. Serve over a few ice cubes. Makes one glass.
Just what we needed on hump day to set us up for the rest of the week. Maybe it should become a weekly occurence…
