Habitat redecorates the Alzheimer’s Society!

Habitat recently completed a makeover for The St Vincent’s Alzheimer’s Society Day Care Centre in Hammersmith that involved a full update of the kitchen, dining room, lounge and garden areas IN ONE DAY!

The one-day makeover involved over 100 Habitat staff volunteering to help and saw each area completely transformed with new paint, furniture, lighting, accessories and plants donated from Habitat and sister brands Argos and Homebase.

We have used images below of the day so you can see before, during and after the full day’s effort and how rewarding it was!

‘Alzheimer’s is something that touches many of our lives and when Alzheimer’s Society became our Group’s charity partner we wanted to do something really practical and relevant to our brand and team,’ commented Clare Askem, Managing Director of Habitat. ‘We worked with the team at St Vincent’s to design schemes for each room and the garden to make sure that the results not only looked fabulous but are practical for the Centre’s everyday needs. The rooms now feature vibrant pops of Habitat colour with bright cushions and accessories, better lighting, comfortable furnishings and a more accessible garden with new plants and raised herb beds for visitors to care for.’

‘We’ve had great fun as a company helping to transform the Centre with a full Habitat task force who undertook the make-over of four large spaces in just one day. It’s been a hugely rewarding project and hopefully visitors will enjoy the new environment that we have created.’

Alzheimer’s Society’s Chief Executive, Jeremy Hughes, said: ‘More than one in ten people living with dementia go into long term care too early and quite often this is due to a lack of support and awareness of where to go for help. It’s vital we help people living with dementia stay in their own homes and feel part of their community for as long as possible. Services like Alzheimer’s Society’s St Vincent’s Day Care Centre are a real lifeline to people living with dementia, providing opportunities to come together and socialise.

‘We’d really like to thank Habitat for their brilliant support in giving this service a makeover – it’s a shining example of how the expertise of a corporate partner can be used to benefit a charity.’
