The Beginner’s Guide To Buying Art

As The Other Art Fair gets ready to return to London this October, we asked our art buff friends there to share their top tips for buying a piece of art.

Consider your budget both in terms of price and the space you have to display it. Measure out the space that you’d like to fill first. It also helps narrow it down when you just can’t pick your favourite!

Get talking and do your research. Get to know the artist you’re buying from, it will make you love the piece even more if you’re able to consider where it came from.

Buy what you love. Investment is a good practice but you are going to be living with the piece that you buy, so make sure that you really love it.
