Honey-coloured limbs and skinny proportions…all the makings of a TV star, huh? That’s how we felt when we cast the Lyle leather sofa to star front-and-centre in our latest television advert. Of course, there are many that could have auditioned for their moment in the spotlight but Lyle really is the sofa that embodies everything Habitat.
Brand new to the collection this season, the Lyle sofa’s unique design takes inspiration from trips to Salone Di Mobile in Milan and Maison Objet in Paris undertaken by Habitat’s in-house experts. The design plays with proportions; a blocky silhouette with curved, narrow arms and a wide generous seat, balanced on slim, chrome legs. Meanwhile understated design details such as pin-tucked cushion corners highlight its super soft and sumptuous characteristics. Exclusive to Habitat, the Lyle sofa was designed by in-house furniture designer Matt Long. Not only inspired by Di Mobile and Maison Objet, Matt was also keen to create a sofa which was not only beautiful but also functional, combining a simple structure with beautiful materials. The finished article fits the brief of a perennial classic; timeless, refined and easy to live with.
The Lyle sofa is ‘dressed’ in tan Rancho leather for the ad; a semi-aniline leather whose natural characteristics are encouraged to shine as a result of a lightly buffed, wax finish (no plastic-y coatings here, thank you very much). It will only get better with age, so feel free to slouch, slump and squish to your hearts content with Lyle, and encourage the kids to do the same.
You can even personalise your combination: Lyle comes in over 25 different fabrics and colours, all available on a 3-seater sofa, a 2-seater and an armchair. Each design is handmade to order in Europe, although several fabrics have made their way into our Ready to Go collection, meaning you could have your very own Lyle sofa delivered in just 2 weeks.
Want to get the Habitat Voyeur look? Team the Lyle sofa with Peggy, the grey and green cotton knitted throw, and cushions galore, such as the Regency. When a sofa looks this good, it’s only right to compliment it with accessories. If you’re keen to recreate the entire look then invest in the Nestor coffee table, maybe even the Miles storage unit or the Brodi side table. But at the end of the day, everyone knows the Lyle sofa will always be the star of the show.
