Thinking about a different angle for your baking? Step forward Cookie Girl and her upcoming event at Platform where you can make gingerbread tepees and cactus cupcakes and bring something truly unique to your Christmas celebrations.
Xanthe Milton founded her north-west London-based business in 2006 on start-up funds of £10. From peddling her wares around W11, first from a basket on her arm and later her Portobello Market stall, she has sold her cakes in one of London’s best food halls, written a best-selling recipe book, Eat Me, and now runs baking workshops, both in person and via her YouTube channel where she has had over 5 million views. She is also launching a fundraising initiative called Bake4Refugees to support the charity, Help Refugees, where people can hold their own bake sale, coffee morning or afternoon tea.
“I am really excited about the upcoming event at Platform. I think it is a very cool and unique spin on a Christmas theme. The gingerbread tepees look wonderful with the edible lace I have created for them and I have been wanting to do a cactus cupcake workshop so this felt like a perfect fit. I think people will be really amazed by what a great impact they can create with some quite simple techniques.”
