Did you know that Habitat is part of the Argos brand? This means you can look after your stylish new purchase with an Argos Care policy. If you’re looking for more information about the policies, have a read of these frequently asked questions.

How do I buy Argos Care?

We sell Argos Care at the same time you buy your Habitat product. When shopping online, you'll see the product insurance options when you add your item to your bag.

Can all Habitat products be covered with Argos Care?

Please note that Argos Furniture Care and Replacement Care are only available on certain products.

Once I've bought Argos Care, when does the cover start?

If you’re taking your item away with you, your cover kicks in the day you buy Argos Care. If you've bought a large piece of furniture and are getting it delivered by the Argos team, your cover will start on the scheduled delivery date.

When can I buy a policy?

You can buy a policy at the same time you buy your Habitat product. Alternatively, you can purchase Argos Care up to 45 days after buying your product. Just pop into a Argos store or Argos store within Sainsbury's with your receipt and one of our colleagues will get it sorted for you. Your product will be covered right away. You can check our Argos store finder to see if there’s a Argos store or Argos store within Sainsbury's near you.
With Argos Replacement Care, any terms or offers, such as discounts and vouchers that are linked to the purchase of the policy, will also remain available for 45 days from the date you bought your product.

How long do I have to cancel my Argos Care policy?

You can cancel Argos Care whenever you like. However, you'll only get a full refund if you cancel within 45 days of purchasing your policy (providing no claims have been made). Here are more details:

Replacement Care
Within the 45 day 'cooling-off period' – you’ll get a full refund (unless you have claimed and your product is replaced).
After the 45 day 'cooling-off period' – you’ll get a pro-rata refund (so we'll refund you the remaining months on your policy).

Furniture Care
Within the 45 day 'cooling-off period' – you’ll get a full refund if no claims have been made.
After the 45 day 'cooling-off period' – you'll get a pro-rata refund (so we'll refund you the remaining months on your policy if no claims have been made).

Does buying an Argos Care policy affect my statutory rights?

Your statutory rights will not be affected when you buy a policy. These include the right to claim a refund, repair, or replacement for up to six years (in Scotland it’s up to five years after you became aware or could with reasonable diligence have become aware there was a problem) if your electrical goods were not of satisfactory quality or fit for purpose when they were sold to you. After the first six months, you will have to prove that the goods had a fault when sold to you.

When does my Argos Care policy end?

The policy usually ends on the date shown on your receipt. However, the policy can end earlier in accordance with the T&Cs. For example, if we replace your product or give you the equivalent value in vouchers, the policy will end immediately. Remember to always check the policy details as the end date can vary depending on what you've protected and when you bought your policy.

Who are Domestic & General and Castelan and what do they have to do with Argos Care?

  • From 28th January 2023, Argos Furniture Care is provided by Domestic & General Insurance PLC.

If you purchased Argos Furniture Care on or before 27th January 2023 your policy will remain with Novus Underwriting Limited. Argos Furniture Care used to be provided by Novus Underwriting Limited on behalf of Helvetia Schweizerische Versicherungsgesellschaft in Liechtenstein AG and administered by Castelan Limited. How do I make a claim?

The way to make a claim will vary depending on which Argos Care policy protects your product.

Replacement Care

The true test of any insurance is when you need to make a claim. With Argos Replacement Care, it couldn't be simpler…

If your item is accidentally damaged or broken:

•Simply take it into your local Argos store, with the receipt for the item and the Replacement Care, and you'll get a replacement.
•Don't worry, if we can't swap it for a new one, we'll give you vouchers for the original purchase price of the item.
•Once you've received a replacement or voucher, that's it, your policy has now ended.

Furniture Care (purchased on or after 28th January 2023)

The true test of any insurance is when you need to make a claim. With Argos Furniture Care, it couldn't be simpler. You've got two options.
Visit the claims website (you’ll be able to track your repair here too)
Or call 0333 000 4915 (if you call you might have to wait in a queue)

Calls cost the basic rate per minute plus your phone company’s access charge. Calls from mobiles may cost considerably more. Lines are open from 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week.

Other providers
Policies may be available from other providers. You may also be covered under your household contents insurance or other policies that you may hold.

Meeting the obligations under your policy
Domestic & General Insurance PLC is covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. If we cannot meet our obligations to you under the policy, compensation may be available to cover these obligations. The compensation provides for 90% of any claim with no upper limit on the amount of the claim.
